Can a goat teach a toddler about the future of our planet? Our January trip to Tilden Little Farm proved that the answer is a resounding yes! From meeting rabbits and chickens to exploring the Wildcat Creek Watershed, our students saw firsthand how environmentally responsible agriculture keeps our Earth healthy.

Mapping Our History at OMCA

How do we teach toddlers about history? By letting them play in it! Our February trip to the Oakland Museum of California (OMCA) was a journey through Native lands and interactive nature play. As we celebrate Earth Week, we’re reflecting on how "place-based education" and Indigenous wisdom help our students build a deeper respect for the land we call home. This Earth Week, we’re exploring how "farm-to-table" learning helps toddlers develop healthy eating habits and a love for our planet. Little Hands, Big Roots

What happens when you give a toddler a seed and a little bit of dirt? Magic! This Earth Week, we’re getting our hands messy as we dive into the science of gardening at our Roosevelt Elementary garden plot. From practicing fine motor skills with seedling starters to exploring the "good" microbes in the soil, our students are discovering that they have the power to grow something beautiful.

Last month, our preschoolers celebrated Lunar New Year with a hands-on, delicious activity: decorating rice cakes to look like moons! We talked about the moon as a symbol of new beginnings and gathered around the table to create our own edible “moon art.”

Rain or shine, our week of weather-themed curriculum is always a blast. We painted with watercolors in art, built tornados in a bottle in our STEAM garden, made rainbow toast in cooking, and set up a high jump for “puddle-jumping” outside. 

And just like that, our amazing 2023-2024 year at Broadmoor has come to an end. We are so sad to say goodbye, but so grateful for all the amazing things we got to do together!

The start of the school year has brought new friends and new adventures to Broadmoor! It’s been an exciting few weeks filled with all sorts of fun.

It’s been a busy couple of months at Broadmoor! Our little ones have been soaking up the last days of fall and eagerly embracing what’s looking like will be a very wet winter.

We had a magical October at Broadmoor Preschool! We started the month out learning all about life on the farm; we played with farm animal figurines, shucked corn…

It’s a new school year over at Broadmoor, and we're off to a great start! Our young ones (many of whom are even younger than usual this year!) are settling into their classes, and our families are getting into the swing of their work-day activities.
